ABOUT US

        A Mother's Story

Please support me in my efforts to give back to Homes for Our Troops. My son Bobby Withers (see Bobby's Story here) was injured in Afghanistan in 2010 and HFOT completed his home November 2015.

Bobby had a revision to his amputation in 2014 and that was when I realized how difficult it really is trying to live an everyday life in a wheelchair. I stayed with him for part of his recovery and was in constant fear of him injuring himself, because his house wasn’t designed for a wheelchair. He wasn’t able to prepare meals for himself, because it was too difficult to stand for even short periods of time or hop across the kitchen to the refrigerator. Besides having a safe home and easily accessible home, he doesn’t have to stress over paying a mortgage anymore.

We are so grateful for all HFOT has done that we definitely feel compelled to do as much as we possibly can for the next injured soldier and the next and the next.

Our rescue dog “Blaze” is another inspiration because not only is he our mascot and the face of 'Blaze a Trail for our Troops",  he is also such a wonderful running and therapy dog. He was a rescue in September 2015 and is the best dog ever!!  We want to help other dogs as precious as Blaze find a home as well so we hope you can join us and come say hi to Blaze on the 22nd.
